Shell and Plate ammonia evaporator with external droplet separator.
Shell and Plate Heat Exchangers are widely used in Ammonia applications as evaporators coupled with upper buffer tank taking advantage of compact execution in alternative to Semiwelded Plate Heat Exchangers.
(A) Brine IN (B) Brine out (C) Refrigerant Inlet (D) Suction connection
Main issue is droplet contant of final product , therefore an external droplet separator is required.
Here below an example of Shell and Plate ammonia evaporator of 110 Kw calculation
Heat transfer coefficiency for water coolers with ammonia flooded evaporators:
- Shell and Tube 200 – 700 W/m2C - Plate and Shell 1500 – 2300 W/m2C
