Lecture 23 Fundamentals of convection . Flat plate solution

This lecture continues on the fundamentals of convection. The following was discussed: solution of convection equation from a flat plate, Blasius solution, local friction coefficient, film temperature, functional forms of friction and convection coefficients, analogies between momentum and heat transfer, Reynolds analogy, and the Chilton-Colburn analogy. The lecture was presented as part of a heat transfer class to the fourth year students of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering by Prof Josua Meyer, Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering of the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
